Family Portraits, Candids and Posed

I really enjoyed photographing the Taubman family for their very special Thanksgiving get together in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Linda Taubman first hired me about 10 years ago to capture candids photographs of her family. Since then, I’ve photographed two Thanksgivings, a graduation, been referred for a very fun baby shower and new baby family portraits and documented both Linda’s amazing French Country Home and breathtaking Birmingham Apartment. Annual Meeting & Party

It was great fun taking a mini road trip to Cincinnati to photograph the annual meeting / party for West Point Optical. I had to take a very quick group photo of everyone and we ended up in the lobby. One year, there were almost 300 people!

Ran into Detroit artist Scott Berels

I was at a party last night and ran into Detroit artist Scott Berels. I photographed him back in 2017 for the Downtown Magazine. He was the one that remembered me. Congratulations to him and his beautiful wife and their new awesome baby girl. @scottberels @deffabdesign

Trina and Harvey - Daxton Hotel

Great fun shooting at the new DAXTON Hotel in Birmingham. Perfection !

A little Rosemary and Thyme

Torani Syrup Corporate Offices with my photographs on display

Torani Syrup, in San Francisco, recently decorated their corporate office wall with older photographs that I created for one of their recipes book. I remember it like it was yesterday. They asked me to create “chapter openers” using my selective focus and hand printed watery looking style. I shot using my Hasselblad and developed the b&w film and all the prints myself. Oh, those were the good old days.

Monarch Butterfly EGG on Swamp Milkweed

I was lucky enough to observe a female Monarch Butterfly laying a few eggs on my swamp milkweed in my backyard last year. Here’s one of the eggs. In 2019, I helped raise Monarch eggs and Monarch Caterpillars into becoming Monarch Butterflies. I found them on my backyard milkweed, and in a few other local fields. That year I released over 100 Butterflies right off my fingers. I’ve observed and documented the entire process over the last few years thru my macro lens. It has truly been one of the most amazing things I’ve every witnessed. I fall in love with them.

My Robin's Nest is in the March issue of Detroit Design

I was lucky enough to observe a robins nest being built in my evergreen bush. Overtime, I would try to approach the bush, as they squaked and dive bombed me. I did manage to get a few photographs and always wore a hat.
